I know pretty much everyone has heard of, or has the book "The Elf on the Shelf". But this year the tradition just began for our family, and I tell you what, it has been sooo much fun!
The ladies found a mystery package wrapped and addressed to our family the other night, and we had no idea where it came from. After opening it, we found our charming little elf and book. The book tells all about the elf. First, you must name him. Our ladies chose Skeeter, but most of the time they call him Elfie because apparently Skeeter is too hard to remember. Then the book tells about how you must not touch him because if you do, it can take away his magic. (Sienna finds this particular part fascinating!) He is sent from Santa to watch you, and each night he flies to the North Pole and lets Santa know if you've been naughty or nice. And each morning when the ladies wake up, they get to search to see where Skeeter is hiding.
Right when I started reading the book, Adyson looked right at me with serious awe in her eyes and said "Mom, I think this gift is from Santa!"
My heart melted. Adyson's a believer, and I love it. She will hold on as long as she can!
This morning they were so excited to see where Skeeter was hiding they were both up a good hour early. They both have been blowing him kisses all day long, and making sure Skeeter knows to tell Santa that they must have an American Girl doll.
And I love him too. When they are being 'not so nice', I can say "Ah-oh, Skeeter's watching!" And man alive, those attitudes change in a hurry!

I have never heard of this! I love it much. I must tell my daughters.
I had to tell Lexi our elf is hiding so Simon won't touch him. I might have to buy one next year. She also has asked Skeeter to report to Santa for her too....she is expecting a message from Santa today!
Guess who also has an Elfy! We have been doing it, for a few years now .. and it is my most favorite part of the holidays. Watching the ladies rush around the house each morning, trying to find Elfy! ENJOY!!
I love Ady's expression in this pic! I've got to get me one of those books.
Could that picture be any more perfect! I LOVE their faces! So fun.
