Treatment #6

Trav had treatment #6 Thursday. There isn't a whole lot new to report. His throat his pretty terrible though. When the Doc. looked at it he said that he has a pretty big sore on it, and with cankers on his tongue and in his mouth, he doesn't feel like eating a whole lot. He has said that even Dr. Pepper hurts to swallow! (which sucks because that is his drink of choice.) He still has a cough that is pretty nagging, and is pretty tired. I hate writing this stuff because I feel like it must be depressing to read...but since I know a lot of you are wondering...there you have it.

He is now really enjoying this...soup, hot chocolate, and ice cream. So, if anyone has any great soup recipes, please send them my way. Or any soft food recipes would do as well. I'll let you know how our soup diet works. :)

The last few weeks have been a bit harder than before. The side effects are seeming to get worse with each treatment and with a cold on top of that, our spirits feel a little broken. It is hard to watch him feel so crappy all the time. A very good friend of ours, who is also a bishop in a different ward, came over the other night to visit. He reminded us of how lucky we are to be able to use the preisthood and how much we should take advantage of that. He stopped by on a night when we really needed to hear some of the things he said, and we are trying really hard to do our best to take his advice. So thankyou "K" for coming over. We are constantly amazed at the friends and family we have who are taking care of us.

Only 2 more treatments till we can see if they are working or not. We will keep everyone updated as long as you all keep us in your prayers. Deal?

I just reread this post and the one before it, and they both sound so whiny! I apologize for the complaining, and the next post shall make you laugh!

I don't think you post sounds whiney, but that might be because I just wrote something similar about our daughter having the same sores from her chemo. Thanks for your post the other day BTW.

One of Chloe's and my Favs:
In a blender, mix half milk/ half vanilla ice cream. 1 Banana, some Hershey's chocolate syrup and maybe a tablespoon or less of oats. Mix it up really good and it goes down real smooth - not thick like a shake.

yes, i said oats. Sounds weird, but it's good.

You have every right to complain here and there. I am sorry you've had such a horrible week. Remember that my offer still stands and will always... when Trav has any energy at all call me and I'll take the kids so you two can have a date night.
I am looking forward to a good laugh!!

You will be sure to have good days and bad days. It might be an idea to keep a journal (or this blog thing would work too!), so when your having those bad days you can read back to the good days. Travis is so strong and so are you! You will probably have days when you feel like "I'm done"....hang in there! You'll make it through! I love you guys!

I'm glad you write about all of this. Sometimes blogging is so therapeutic. You don't sound whiney at all. I think you are so strong. I am so glad I ran into you yesterday. I was having the most poopy weekend, so it was so good to see a smiley face, thanks for coming over and saying "hi" I needed it :O)

Complain away Hayley you have that right! You have so much on your plate and I know that your blessings in heaven will be great for all of the stress you're enduring! Croup is the pits. We get it in our house on a regular basis! We are still praying daily for Travis I hope that he gets feeling better, I can't imagine feeling a sore throat all of the time that would not be fun! I'll see if I have any new yummy soup recipes for you Thank you for keeping us posted.------My sister fixed her blog site now!

I wouldn't worry AT ALL about souding whiney or like you are complaining. I think everyone wants to know as much information as you are willing to give, so don't ever worry about writing too much. Write away. My heart goes out to you and your husband...I'll pray for you this week.
