Ashley the Grasshopper

I mentioned in my last post that Adyson went to Grandma Lorraine's for a sleepover last night. (Thanks again Grandma-she had a fabulous time!) She came home utterly exhausted, and with a pet. It seems Rheagen and Adyson decided to catch a grasshopper, and grandma put it in a nice little Tupperware-and even poked a few holes in the top. We wouldn't want it to suffocate...right? Right....

Proudly showing off her sweet Ashley

She decided Ashley, oh yes she named it Ashley, needed a friend or two to play with and asked me to help her catch some more. Those of you who know me at all, know that I am terrified at anything that falls under the creepy crawly category. So I quickly said no.

When Travis came home she hit him up. He also said no. Just by looking at the poor thing you could tell it wasn't gonna last much longer in its new Tupperware home. We explained that Sweet "beautiful" Ashley would die if we didn't let her go. She needed to live with her friends (and unfortunately she has many) in the bushes in the front of our house. She needs some room to hop, some sunlight and fresh air.

Trying desperatly to stop the tears from coming. Can you see her sweet little broken heart?

I could tell she understood, but her poor little heart was broken. She really thought this was going to be her friendly pet she could keep for a very long time. So after many very real and very grown up tears, we let little Ashley go. She is fine now, and thinks that Ashley is very happily living in the front yard. I'm hoping she found a way to tell all the other grasshoppers what mean people we are and they will all escape to somewhere else, but that's just me.

Trying so hard to ge the lid off. (I'm as far away as possible praying she can do this by herself. I really don't like grasshoppers!)She did it! It took Ashley a while to get up, I was worried she didn't make it, but she finally hopped away.

Amanda, does this sound familiar to you? And Ashley, don't be offended by her choice of name. I'm certain you have no grasshopper qualities.

Thanks again Grandma for taking her. She had such a great time and told us all about it today, and right now she is peacefully catching up on her sleep!

And now she is back to her normal happy self.

Yes... very familiar. Maybe Macy and Adyson are kindred spirits.(Anne of Green Gables, anyone?)

Bless her little heart!!! I remember my first cat I ever had. My mom had to send him to live on a farm (I still believe this!) and I vividly remember sitting at the bar just like Ady and crying! It broke my heart all over again to see her so sad!
I also used to catch grasshoppers when I was little, but instead of keeping them as pets we would stick them on the barbs of a barbed wire fence until they died and then we would bury them....morbid, I know!

What a cute story, she is too sweet. That face of her trying to hold in her tears just about did me in. I love their sister pictures below as well! SO CUTE!

I loved that story. My girls are always doing the same things except with tomato worms, ladybugs, and rolli polies.

That picture of her crying just about breaks my heart! What a sweet story, it's crazy how you realize, as a parent now, how much your pain was also your parents' pain, and you appreciate everything they did!

That kills me that she named it Ashley!! So I guess when Brex gets a pet he better name it Hayley? Hahaha. Ok, serious craziness on the pictures!! First off, holy cow, I feel like a huge copycat! I remember seeing your fam's cute pics, and I guess I kept your colors in my subconscious - cause I picked the brown, cream, and turquoise too!! Then the shoes...wow. I went back and looked at yours and I actually like yours a lot better. They have cute dots, mine were weird alligator, but they were cheap. The part that really shocked me was when I posted about Eileen taking them and I said, "Make sure you tell her how talented she is." Oh, yep. That's what you said too. I guess the birthday thing makes us pretty much identical. I promise I'm not a stalker or something. ;)

Well, I think you better at least get her some dang fish! Seriously, she's breaking my heart! Just don't let her go catch grasshoppers with Aunt Amy!!!!

I have to agree with Heather. lol
I am so glad she had fun. The WHOLE family was so excited to have her over. She is a BLAST!!! I can see why you have a hard time letting her go. :)
